09/10/2008 8:51 AM Alert
My week may have been like yours, but then again maybe not. Eight days prior to arriving at South Ga. Motor Sports Park I rented Carolina Raceway to test 3 cars and even though I drove a record best for me at 5.28 and Mike pulled a 7.61 at 180mph, Adam burnt 3 pistons, so the problem started. Then we could not find pistons to mill until after Cecil. We then put in last years motor at the last minute and towed the Chevy II onto the trailer as to finish it at Cecil.
The new motor coach with just 7000 miles on it began to skip about Macon and was missing a cylinder completely upon our arrival. Then it died just as I parked and proceeded to puke all coolants out the side of the block heater. We were stranded.
Adam's Chevy II continued to be a mystery for the whole weekend with leakage and a failing converter. So far $$$$ gone.
That is where ministry to me and my team kicked into high gear. My thanks go out to these people for they saw the need and acted on it. First, Rob Fincher, with Rob's Racing, came to help complete the motor installation and nitrous tune up on Adam's car. Then Jeff Paulk came by to say hello and learning of my troubles offered his new rig to get my trailer back home for my rig had to be towed to Tifton for repairs on Monday. STP's, Kenny Acree loaned me his dually to go to Valdosta Saturday morning to rent a car, then that night with his race close on, Lebron Hill just crawled under the car with us and all the fluid mess to help change converters. Jamie and Matt, with Pro Torque Converters, loaned me a bolt together unit just to get me through. Then Ralph, about 10:30pm drove up on a golf cart to see if they could help and went and got Amsoil fluid from his trailer, enough to fill our transmission. Johnny Fenn stayed on Monday morning to meet the wrecker to pick up my rig. If you did not catch it before, Jeff Paulk, of Paulk Racing, loaned me his new  toter home at the drop of a hat seeing my need in order to meet my need. If all that's not ministry folks then I haven't learned the Bible at all.
Up to this minute no one has allowed me to pay them a dime, in fact one team owner came and gave me $200.00 to further ORSCA Ministries. Wow and Praise God! My bad weekend continues as I pinched a trans coolant line on Adam's car that caused a leak at the burn out pit, so we did not make eliminations. I brought a  broken car to the races and took a broken car home. I also noticed many other drivers with breakage issues at Cecil.
Mike Ghee says that my next sermon should be on adversity. I thinks he's right.
I will be at Huntsville with a new motor, converter and transmission for Adam's car in 6.0 and a lesson on Biblical adversity. Thank you for the 75 in attendance Sunday morning. It was very encouraging.

In Christ,
Larry

No problem Mr. Garner. I am just glad that you will have everything ready to go before H'ville.
