| The mount was made for a SBF (in stock location) w/ glide. You can put the motor where ever you want it. You're some what limited with a Chevrolet motor though. I would put it as far back as I could. Remember, You will need clearance for the distributor. I've got a SBC in a 04 with the distributor 1/2" from the firewall. The 3-4" sounds close. I would mock it up and see where the distributor is and go from there. |

the problem is im suppose to keep motor in "Stock" location, tryin to figure out if thats close to stock and im runnin a belt drive distributor so that clearance is not an issue. does this look about right?? im not use to seeing the bellhousing in the engine compartment. it would be nice when the tranny had to be unbolted though i know that!! thanks in advance to anyone with any help or info. =)

hmmm....seeing as how a BBC was never offered in a Mustang, determining "stock" location is an issue up for a LOT of debate. I do know that the firewall is supposed to be in a stock, unaltered location (minor notching for clearance allowed)......."I" would move the motor back as far as the firewall would allow (and the K-member to oil pan clearance needs to be checked as well) and let-r-hunt.....
Perhaps some of the ORSCA tech folks could weigh in on this???

| Depending on what sanction body you are running, I dont think that the motor pushed back is gonna be a problem, I would get it as close to the firewall as possible. we here in ORSCA would not have aproblem with it at all. The "motor in stock location" rule basically is there to keep anyone from puttin the motor in the trunk & come racin, lol.Trust me, I've had someone ask about it before. Thanks, Ray, ORSCA Tech |

| I have a 94 and put a 598 chevy in it. We bought a motor plate from skinney kids that centered the motor in the car. They also have a off set to keep the motor in the same location as the ford motor. The plates are made just for this.
Now we also moved the motor back as far as we can. By centering the motor it puts the powerglide next to the trans tunnel on the drivers side. We had to drill holes to get to the bolts on the top and drivers side. But with out the spark plug wires on the dist you can get to the top 2 bolts with a wrench. Also had to use a hammer and bang back the tunnel a bit where the shifter lever is so it would not hit. Hope it helps |
