Fun Ford Norwalk – Final Qualifying

1)         Dale Brinsfield            6.344               222.69

2)         Chuck DeMory           6.500               216.13

3)         David Schorr               6.527               216.48

4)         Jimmy Keen                6.771               217.46

5)         Steve Brinegar                        6.941               201.97

6)         Cale Aronson              7.540               137.29

7)         Tony Desiderato         8.100               148.44

Notes:

Dale Brinsfield said his car is capable of 6.20’s – and it certainly looks like he’s edging closer and closer with what he said is a very conservative tune up. Dale has been one of the quickest cars at every event that he and car owner Jerry Williams have attended. Will this be where they get their first ever Fun Ford win?

Cale Aronson is back with his Pro Stock – and there’s little doubt that there’s a lot more left in that car. Check DeMory’s IHRA mountain motor Pro Stocker will be dangerous in eliminations as well 2-time champ David Schorr, who won at Orlando.

Stay tuned for race results tomorrow!

PERFORMANCE 2-WAY COMMUNICATIONS STREET OUTLAW

Fun Ford Norwalk – Final Qualifying

1)         Conrad Scarry             6.970               211.63

2)         Zack Posey                  7.727               185.64

3)         David Laurer               7.766               178.64

4)         Brian Keller                 8.052               171.03

5)         Ray Orbas                   8.104               159.89

Notes:

Class record holder Grant McCrary, winner of the last three events, said he was going to take a break – and he did as his team did not make the tow up from Texas.

NMRA Outlaw 10.5 point’s leader Conrad Scarry, however, is also #2 in Fun Ford Street Outlaw and he could be neck and neck with McCrary in point;s if he wins here. Since Norwalk is so close to Route 66, we expect that Team Scarry will head west after this event for the Super Bowl. That’s Conrad in the picture below.

Who was the last guy to win two Outlaw 10.5 championships in one year? Elias Delatorre did that with Fun Ford and NSCA back in 2002!

PROCHARGER STREET RENEGADE

Fun Ford Norwalk – Final Qualifying

1)         Don Burton                 7.512               189.02

2)         John McDonald          7.567               187.44

3)         Mike Modeste             7.987               164.45

4)         Angel Padilla              8.219               170.75

Notes:

This is the first event that last year’s champion and current point’s leader Travis Franklin has missed all year. However, this may be the second farthest trip he would have had to make from Texas if he was planning to make every event (Richmond, VA may be just as far, Epping, NH is definitely the longest trip).

This may cost him, as Angel Padilla is in position to assume the point’s lead if he could win this event. Yes, he qualified last, but he did win Houston and the car has potential. Padilla is currently in second place. Former NSCA champ Mustang Mike Modeste is within striking distance, too.

Of course, Don Burton could be a championship threat also, if he plans to make every event for the remainder of the season. Burton continues to run sub record times and, as of right now, it looks like no one else can touch him.
