The rumors run wild in racing. Maybe this will cool down the rumor mill. It has been no big secrete that orsca is seeking sponsorship for a new promod class. We have ran all type of promods this year in limited races testing the waters for car counts and turnouts in our races as well as watching what has been happening with other races. We have had several meetings and more are scheduled to meet with potential sponsorship for this class in the 2009 racing season. If you are interested in racing in this class for a championship or interested in talking about sponsorship please contact Johnny fenn @ 770-652-5190 or Mike Hill @ 404-925-6381 Johnny@outlawracing.com Mike@outlawracing.com

It doesn't matter Ken your car would fit in any promod class.
We kind of like the quick 8 type promod or automatic deal.
Their are alot of those cars around the south and we feel ORSCA could provide a stable organization for them to run with. In conjunction with the other organizations running this type of class around the southEast we think it would bring this type of promod racing to fans that haven't had a chance to see them.
It would also provide venues in the Southeast to cut down the cost of traveling all over just to have a race.
Wants and wishes are real nice.  Most of them cost alot.  Right now we have the want and wish now we just have to figure out the cost part of it.
Ken how about donating all the revenue you recieve from your world famous ARMADILLO cooking rub to this effort?

I'd race in it when at all possible.
Keep the Blower cars out or make them weight 2700 lbs and they can still beat us, but it will be closer racing.
I run a powerglide,But any converter driven trans is fine with me.
Just my opinion, which doesnt count anyway.
Good Luck with it too.

I would think any converter transmission. That would open it up to alot more cars .  From my experience and view the power glide deal leves several cars broken with tranny problem on race day.
We would put alot into what the racers that normaly run these classes feel also .  My vote would be any converter tranny combination.

Mike Hill will be the one to contact on views of rules to run a class like this under. He will be the one I will look to providing information on what the racers would like to see in a promod class. We are working hard to make it happen. We also have to make it through a pretty tough year in all of racing. We still believe in the american way of working hard and the outcome will be rewarding.

I am a newbie, but have a '68 Camaro once owned by the Thompsons that went to Orlando several years back, and fared pretty well @ 2800# (6.80s @ 216 with 700 ci + n20).  It is being converted to a 540 Blower car with a TCI Glide and TSI spragless Converter.  Portly 2850#.  Would love this new class, but it'll be tough to compete against the N20 & Turbo cars that weigh 200-400# less.  All in fun.  What size tire?  Currently have Goodyear 33.5 x 16 x 17 with a MT 33 x 16 x 10.5W on the way.

There are plenty of clutch cars out there if you need a job......And if real ProMods have clutches, they have plenty of spots for you to earn in IHRA, NHRA, and ADRL.

Now that we have out pro mod car halfway figured out we would love to come run with you guys next year. Ovcourse with the clutch is fine with us, but if you go auto pro mod we have a setup for that. As many NHRA/IHRA guys are doing we have just purchased a Bruno/Lenco combo for legal pro mod (you have to run a clutch style bellhousing on the Bruno to run in IHRA/NHRA) I just hope you make the Brunos or Lenco drives legal, we all know they are slower than powerglides, also they weigh a whole lot more. The powerglides costs a ton now days to stand up to this type of power level and you need two of them, so its not more economical for the racer to require glides, it actually costs them more money to rule it that way. Also are the tranys out there really production type units anyhow? Aftermarket cases built in many shapes, input shafts twice the size of what Chevy put in them, and all the other mods to them make them far from a glide.. Just a thought,!! The blower cars with a roots blower dont have an advantage over nitrous cars in an eighth mile race, in NHRA they are slower than the nitrous cars at the eighth. If you let screw blowers in they need more weight as the turbos do. Or we will have another outlaw10.5 class that has one dominating combination, which we know doesnt get the fans involved and discourages racers to go do something else. But I think your doing the right thing pro mod style cars arent going anywhere and we need them in ORSCA!! Good luck and be safe to everyone racing out there.. TL

We were just talking about ORSCA possibly having an APM class next year. I hope this is something that will happen.  I feel sure that Lance Styck and the Custom Performance guys will bring there car out to some races if you decide to make this a go.  I know we will be supporting either Limited or Outlaw with our new car and would love to see Lance come racing with us again in the future with his twin turbo smallblock powered automatic Mustang.

Is there a chance that someone, official type, is going to give us an idea of the rules for this class? For instance, is the outlaw in "Outlaw Racing" going to apply to this class?  The more outlaw you make it, the higher car count you will have.

Let me give you a insight from 2 different angles.

As a track operator I believe in order to get car counts you need to open it up to any convertor driven transmission. There is a possibility if you do this to have 30 or more cars at each event.

As a racer I still think you need to have any convertor driven trans due to the cost involved with having to buy 2 trans at $7500 each. Also the blower cars MUST have some restrictions put on them in order to keep the nitrous guys coming. If you look at the Quick 8 Outlaws the nitrous cars can go low teens legitimatly not having a rocker panel to low and dragging the lights. The blower guys can go low 0's at will. I would suggest putting a weight limit on them are restrict overdrive maybe. Make it easy on yourself.

Dennis Jordan, Troy Jordan and Hermin Sheppard have all been 0's and I expect a 3 second pass in the next couple races.

Kerry Crosby,Dwayne Silance have both been 0's in a nitrous car but it was in great air and great tracks. However I have also seen some VERY questionable 60 foots on a couple nitrous cars at Q8 events. Not pointing fingers but stating facts. I don't believe any powerglide nitrous car can go .94 to the 60. We went .966 but I am almost positive it was a fluke.

The turbo cars have not worried me yet due to nobody has gotten them quite perfected yet, but Steve and Dave will soon enough.

These are just a few thoughts on my part and they are my opinions and you know what opinions are like!
