
In Limited Street action, "Carkilla" Jeff Paulk returned to his winning ways in his beautiful S-10 truck with a final round victory over Jeff Cooner. Paulk defeated the former Sheppard Race Cars/Berry Plumbing & Equipment Limited Street Champion 4.90 to 5.10. Cooner, driving Jackie Moran's gorgeous 1969 Camaro won his semi-final race with Tim Kincaid and Paulk took out Carolina runner-up Keith Szabo. Carolina winner David Waits was taken out in round two by Kincaid.
Steve "Matco Man" Jackson repeated his Carolina win and reset both the TCI EZ Street MPH and ET records. Number one qualifier Terry Elam set the pace early with an unbelievable 5.005, but was never able to back it up as required by the rules. Jackson's 5.014 during qualifying and 147.10 mph in eliminations are both the new marks to beat. Jackson took the win after Chad Henderson broke during the burnout. Nick Yarber and Charles Hull were the semi-finalists.
In Modified Street Brian Murphy overcame a broken differential and driveshaft to reach the final round againest #1 qualifier Stacy Parker. Brian used a .042 to .104 starting line advantage to beat Parker's quicker 5.488 with a 5.517. K Schimsher lost to Parker in their semi-final match-up while Murphy beat Richard Reagan.
The Southern Truck Parts 5.0 Class winner from Carolina Dragway,Jeremy Ellis, qualified only 14th, yet was still able to repeat in Montgomery by defeating Lester Pitts 5.016 to a close 5.028. Both drivers had .035 reaction times. Bick Bickerstaff was a semi-finalist again along with Scott Underwood.
Dutton Grading 6.0 winner Blaine Aldridge defended his win at last year's Montgomery event by again mowing down a stellar field. In the final, Blaine benifited from Carolina winner Michael Strickland's -.006 red light. Former winner Bill Cowles in his Chevy powered 2004 Mustang and Bo Conner in his ultra clean 1968 Camaro lost at four cars.
The Intergration 4.0 sponsored 7.0 class saw Opelika AL 's Josh Mackey win his final round match-up with two-time champion Ricky Pennington in a double break-out, 6.999 to a quicker 6.990. Josh, son of long time racer Randy Mackey, defeated Lance Pharr in their semi-final bout while Pennington bested David Hammonds.
